INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR LOCAL MARTIAL ARTIST
INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR
PROMINENT LOCAL MARTIAL ARTIST
The International Independent Martial Artists Association [IIMAA] based in Florida USA has inducted one of Australia’s leading Martial Artists Kyoshi [Grand Master] Kevin Blundell into the World Hall of Fame, which features such legends as Chuck Norris.
Kumiai-Ryu Martial Arts System’s Chief Instructor, Kyoshi Kevin Blundell has received not one but two prestigious awards, the first being for “Most outstanding contribution to the Martial Arts” and the highly acclaimed and coveted “International Instructor of the Year”.
Blundell founded KRMAS in 1989 and has over forty years experience in Martial Arts at the top level, formerly as a National Team member and later on as the National Coach. He is also the Senior Vice President of the Martial Arts Industry Association, the Peak Martial Arts representative body with over 400,000 members across Australia.
In late 2009 he received his 8th Dan Black Belt from Okinawa as well as completing Diplomas in Sports Coaching and Fitness, a very busy year and a monumental achievement in itself.
Blundell said “To be recognised by your peers, not only on a local level but also internationally, certainly is both humbling and rewarding. The IIMAA is recognised as a world wide organisation, which gives these awards such a high level of credibility”.
Local Kumiai-Ryu Martial Arts System Instructor Sensei Warren Martin said “I am very pleased to see Kyoshi receive these prestigious awards which are in recognition of the 40 years of hard work he has put in”. “These awards come as no surprise to everyone who knows him as Kyoshi is always working tirelessly not only for our organisation which is in 24 locations across threes states, but for the whole Martial Arts Industry”. “All international superstars started at a local club level, much like our local members here at the Port Macquarie and Wauchope Dojos. It is good to know that what we teach gives local people the knowledge, confidence and opportunity to go on to greater achievements, both within the Martial Arts and Life”.
